A few pointers for your Hyper 7 engine replacement

Please make sure you use threadlock on the screws when fitting any metal to metal parts. These engines kick out some serious power which causes major vibration. In no time at all the fixings will be loose however tight you think the screws are. If it tilts off to one side even a little bit, it will pretty much strip the spur gear on your centre differential (or worse)!

These RC engines come supplied with 'running in' details. There are many differing ideas on the best way to run in a nitro car but it’s best to take the time to do this thoroughly over at least 4 tanks. An hour or so well spent will result in your car actually producing around 20% more power. It's pretty tempting to 'open them up full throttle' straight away, but this is a great way to ruin a new engine! Whether you should use the same fuel throughout your engines life is another hot topic in the RC world right now. Some say to run one in on a lower nitro content, then move up to a higher percent later. However, people are getting great results and long life by using one high quality nitro fuel and sticking to it. Don't just get whatever your local model shop happens to stock, the fuel you put in your car is vital to its performance and lifespan.

These cars love Byron Race Fuel 25% or O Donnell 25% Race Formula. There's really no need to go higher than 25% nitro content. Some would argue to go with a 20% mix but the most important thing is to use a quality fuel. There are some brands out there that seem to do more damage than good - customer feedback tells us Tornado fuel and Hyper 7 cars don't get on very well together! At present we don't sell nitro fuel as the shipping costs are too high but your local model shop will be happy to help you.

Should you replace your Hyper 7 nitro engine with a non HoBao one with a bit more power? Well that's really up to you, but we think they are absolutely superb, so easy to start and tune up and they’re really robust too. It's often a bit of a trade off. There are some engines with a little bit more power, but they don't tend to be as easy to tune, keep in top performance and often sacrifice squeezing a tiny bit of extra power out at the expense of its life. All in all the .21 Hyper is a great all rounder.
